Study skills fall into the category of “soft skills,” as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor Employment & Training Administration. Soft skills are the problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills that a person employs. They are perhaps best defined as the opposite of “hard skills,” which are the technical skills required to complete a job.

The Carnegie Mellon Foundation and Stanford Research Institute surveyed Fortune 500 CEOs, identifying the most critical skills. They concluded that 75% of long-term career success depends on soft skills, such as: the ability to process and organize new information, solve problems, think critically, manage time and deadlines, communicate effectively with others, etc.  Only 25% of long-term success, however, depends on technical “content” knowledge.   softskills.com

Approach to adding additional skills :

  • Our learning approach teaches how to learn by  asking questions and navigating your way with high-level thinking skills.

  • Using "Reflection" to set goals and monitor your progress along the way.

  • Create your purpose in what you want to know.

  • Prioritize your your methods and projects. When focused on the top 20%  efforts intentionally, you quickly find yourself feeling more and more effective and less stressed.

  • Use Design Thinking in all parts of your learning

  • Integrate the learning in a project based activity ( World issue )

 Owners mindset thinking:
Students are shown how to be an owner of their own business; what’s involved with their customers, suppliers and staff.  Cultural Engineering mindset thinking (CEM):
Activities around the process that cover all the details to make it successful. Its assuring that all the team are aware of items, plans are created, deliverables are met, problems solved, and the customer is informed. An analytical approach is taken and leadership / management is exercised.

Growth mindset:
Brain Plasticity… The brain is like a muscle … Use it or lose it.

Coach mindset:...Each team member becomes a coach to another in learning the life skills necessary to be successful in business and society.  Team members are taught what it is to be a coach.
